Senior AIDES

The Senior AIDES program is a federally funded program whose purpose is to train and prepare older workers - age 55 and older - for entry or reentry into the workforce. Through our national sponsor, Senior Service America Inc., the Senior AIDES program is able to help provide a trained pool of candidates for Cape Fear Area employers.

As part of their employment plan, Senior AIDES are temporarily assigned to a Host Agency (nonprofit or governmental entity). While in the program, Senior AIDES learn the skills needed to obtain and maintain employment. Seniors who successfully transfer out of the program and into unsubsidized employment have the basic skill sets needed to enter/renter the workforce.

The Senior AIDES Program has a number of candidates that are trained to meet the needs of Cape Fear Area employers. Senior AIDES hold a variety of positions in the Cape Fear community:

  • Clerical Aid
  • Receptionist
  • Program Assistant
  • Data Entry Clerk
  • File Clerk
  • Food Service

Each of the Senior AIDES has shown to be an integral part of the site at which they are placed. Senior AIDES can bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a dedicated work ethic to your business. In 2007, the local Senior AIDES program served 108 seniors and placed 25 in permanent positions throughout Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, Onslow and Columbus Counties. Each of the Senior AIDES in the program has a resume that is readily available upon request. For more information on the Senior AIDES Program please contact our local office at (910) 798-3910.
